Meet Lauren — a young professional from Chicago who has just landed in Paris. Any resemblance to an existing TV show is, of course, purely coincidental🙂.

Lauren took some French classes in high school and college, though she didn’t exactly excel. She occasionally watches subtitled French‑language content on social media or streaming platforms, and she has even downloaded a few AI language‑learning apps on her phone. 

Still, ever since signing her CDI, she has struggled to adjust to her new professional environment. When she sees her colleagues gathering around la machine à café during morning breaks, she doesn’t feel confident enough to join the conversation. 

Whenever a meeting is scheduled in her department, anxiety kicks in. She wonders:
